The following is a plain text List of Largest Metropolitan Areas in the World. This is to be contrasted from the “City Proper” which is the population within city limits. Please note that these numbers are constantly changing and this particular list was compiled on February 21, 2020 and is accurate as of that date. 

The following is just the names of the cities with the associated countries removed. However, potentially of interest for some to note, cities in China compromise four of this top ten list of the Largest Metropolitan Areas in the World
